A brief introduction to single core copper wire and multi-core copper wire

There are two types of copper cores: multi core copper cable (also known as "flexible cable") and single core power cable (also known as "hard cable"), similar to UL10584. Regarding the names of these two types of wires, we often refer to them as soft wires and hard wires in decoration. In fact, they all have professional terms. For example, in flexible cords, there are many small copper wires that can be bent, which we call BVR. There is only one copper wire inside the hard wire, which is relatively thick and hard, so we call it BV wire. Multi strand copper core wire evolved from a single strand copper core wire. For example, a 2.5 square wire consists of 19 copper cores with a diameter of 0.41mm, while a single strand BV copper core wire consists of one copper core with a diameter of 1.78mm. From the above example analysis, we can easily see that multi strand copper core wire is thinner than single strand copper core wire, but the size is similar.

Through the analysis of the above circuit, we can see that there are two biggest differences between flexible and hard wires: different softness and hardness, and different number of conductors. Does the difference in software and hardware affect the difficulty of wiring. The harder the wire, the more difficult it is to wire because hard wires are difficult to bend. But the strength, lifespan, and other aspects of soft and hard wires are similar, so we don't have to worry about this. In a household environment, the effectiveness of using both types of wires is comparable. Wires with a current carrying capacity of 6 square meters or more are basically composed of multiple strands of wire, including multiple BV copper core wires, which are also designed to resist skin effect.
